Colbert Consulting is an Indiana-based political fundraising and strategy firm led by Mindy Colbert. Mindy works with political campaigns, nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, and companies on fundraising plans, political relationships, and strategic initiatives.

Colbert Consulting can help with all facets of political and non-profit fundraising. From building out a fundraising plan, to brokering meetings, to housing the follow up process and board management, we can help you figure out your bottom line and the path to meet your fundraising goals. Mindy would be happy to speak to your board/founding members on the fundamentals of fundraising. She speaks to several leadership groups around Indiana to help them learn the basics of fundraising solicitations and management of a fundraising plan. With this model, Mindy can give the basics of fundraising, which will equip you and your board to create your own fundraising program on your own time and budget.

About Mindy Colbert
Mindy Colbert is the Founder and CEO of Colbert Consulting. Prior to starting Colbert Consulting in 2012, Mindy served on the government side of elected office as a Legislative assistant to two Indiana Senators. After leaving the Senate, Mindy started her political fundraising track by building the federal and state political action committees for The Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
She then led an organization championed by Indiana entrepreneur and audio mogul, Fred Klipsch, called The Educational CHOICE Charitable Trust. This organization, paired with its PAC called Hoosiers for Economic Growth, paved the way for one of the most expansive school choice voucher programs in the country. Mindy was at the helm of building out both the non-profit and PAC components and marketing this new program to all private schools in the state.
With the Indiana school choice program up and running, Mindy decided to start Colbert Consulting to service the growing need for political and non-profit fundraisers in the state of Indiana. With over a decade in business, Colbert Consulting has serviced virtually every category of political, non-profit and for-profit entity including two presidential campaigns.
Mindy served as the Finance Director for Governor Eric Holcomb and Director of Fundraising Operations for The Indiana Republican Party. In this role, Mindy was leading fundraising for Governor Holcomb’s first election in 2016 and his re-elect in 2020. She was also the lead fundraiser and planner for both of Governor Holcomb’s inaugurals in 2017 and 2021. During her time with Governor Holcomb and The Indiana Republican Party, Mindy helped to create a new entity called Team Holcomb. This was a joint fundraising committee between Eric Holcomb for Indiana and The Indiana Republican Party and is considered the first of its kind in the country. Mindy also served as the liaison between Eric Holcomb for Indiana and the Republican Governors Association in Washington, D.C.
Mindy now serves a client base that spans private companies, world-renowned non-profits, political campaigns and national advocacy organizations.
Mindy earned her bachelors degree from DePauw University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Governor’s Public Building Foundation. She is a graduate of the Indiana Leadership Forum, a graduate of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University, and a graduate of the American Enterprise Institute Leadership Summit. Mindy continues to keep her roots in Indiana where she resides with her husband, Patrick O’Connell, and their two children.

A note from the ceo
I have always had an interest in politics and community involvement since my father, a corn and soybean farmer, put his hat in the political arena and was elected county commissioner. I learned first-hand the value of connecting with fellow citizens to hear their concerns, the hard work needed to market solutions to the community, and the importance of public service as an avenue to protect their quality of life.
I saw my dad make a positive impact as I tagged along with him to commissioner meetings, political dinners and listened to countless phone calls. Since then, I have known I wanted to be a part of the process to impact positive growth and defend core freedoms.
I found my niche in the world of political fundraising and strategy and have been able to build a presence in the Indiana community and nationally of helping virtually every classification of political, non-profit, and business entity to meet their strategic goals.
As a seasoned consultant in the political world, my objective is to bring my expertise to your campaign, business or organization. Colbert Consulting can help you develop a plan, fill your war chest, and implement the strategy needed to accomplish your business initiatives.
